Hi,

Well tomorrow is the last day of Term 3! YAY! There are some great movies that have come out for the school holidays. Here are some trailors. I really want to go and see some of these movies! This is Monte Carlo…

Here is the second one. It is called The Smurfs…

What movie would you like to see. Here is a movie that I recently saw with my friend. When we went to see it at the movies it blacked out! So of course we couldn’t see it, and then it went out of cinemas. So we rented it from the video store, here is the trailer-

OK, so you haven’t had enough movies? Well, I saw this movie a few years ago and it was HILARIOUS! It is so funny and it is already out! Here it is-

Tourist Attraction In Mexico, California, Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania!

Posted by dawso | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on September 19, 2011

Hello,

I am doing the 3 activity for the Student Blogging Challenge. Here is the task:

Miss W and Mr Davo Devil will be visiting these states and provinces: California, Oregon, Washing

ton, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, North and South Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and back to California. They enjoy visiting national parks and historical places. Where would you suggest they go while in those states and provinces? Suggest a tourist attraction in at least 5 places.

I have never been to one of these countries. As I have mentioned before, I live in Australia! My first tourist attraction… MEXICO!

In Mexico my tourist attraction is Tulum. Tulum is located on the east coast of Yucatán Peninsula. Tulum was once the port of the Mayan city of Coba. It was built 1200 AD (After Jesus Christ’s Death) and the civilisation in Mayan was already being refused, which is why many say it lacks beauty. But, have you seen it. There is not one thing about it that doesn’t lack beauty!

Next is California,

Apart from Songs and Songs written about it, here is a tourist attraction in California:

DISNEYLAND! I don’t think that Miss W and Mr Davo Devil will be to excited to visit this tourist attraction! But why not. If you aren’t sure, Disneyland is a theme park. It has many rides, stores, cafes and great, wonderful things! Disneyland features in Paris, Tokyo and other cities as well. Disneyland is a much loved tourist attraction and not just for children! Doesn’t it look like fun?

Moving on too… OHIO!

Well this was quite a difficult one. But I have found a strange tourist attraction that I think would be very fun to visit! Here it is… THE AMERICAN SIGN MUSEUM! Even though it is American it is still situated in Ohio! It is a mueseum of strange, funny and just plain weird sign that belongs in America. Tod Swormstedt, is the fonder of this museum. I think that it is such a great, creative idea! Here is a picture of a sign or two!

Wow, a sign museum, disneyland and the amazing Tulum! Now on to New York!

I am going to do something that is familiar to all of us, no it isn’t the stature of Liberty and no it isn’t central park, it is…

The Empire State Building.

The Empire State Building is 81 years old. It was officially opened on May 1, 1931 when President Hoover pressed a button in Washington, D.C. creating the top of the Empire State Building to light up with white lights. The Empire State Building is located on 34th Street and Fifth Avenue and is visible from many places in New York City. There are is a song about it as well! Do you want to see a picture of this tall building. Well, here it is…

Now, onto the last state, Pennsylvania. I know this is really bad, but I have only just discovered this state lately! I have actually found it through visiting other peoples blogs! So here is a tourist attraciotn…

This one is quite funny! It is actually two but to do with the same thing! It is BURGERS! This one is the worlds largest burger! Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub enjoys making burgers bigger than your head, all the way up to the insane 123-pounder. I would need to go for a run for about 6 hours to burn that off if I could even fit it in my tummy! The next one is…

The Big Mac Museum. Near its birthplace, McDonald’s remembers their first megaburger with a museum and a statue. This is quite cool and I think that as soon as I walked through this I would be craving some McDonald’s chips!

So there it is! 5 tourist attractions in Mexico, California, Ohio, New York and of course Pennsylvania! So there you have it! Enjoy your holiday Miss W and Mr Davo Devil, I hope you have a great time!

Riddles!

3

Posted by dawso | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on September 18, 2011

Hi Eeryone!

Here are some riddles for you to try! If you ge3 or more right than your name will get a special mention in the next post! Here they are…

What came first, The chicken or the egg? (this is a trick question and there is no real answer)

What is heavier- A kilogram of feathers or  a kilogram of  gold?

I follow you every day, leave you at night. I disappear when a cloud comes close. What am I? (I am not the Sun!)

I am the beginning of the end, and the end of time and space. I am essential to creation, and I surround every place. What am I?

A man was going to buy a car for $5000 but didn’t pay a cent, how did he do this?

I am taken from a mine, and shut up in a wooden case, from which I am never released, and yet I am used by almost everybody?

It is greater than God and more evil than the devil. The poor have it, the rich need it and if you eat it you’ll die. What is it?

So there you have it! If you get them all right, you will be a very smart person. Just kidding, only God knows who you will be!

Teegan’s Post!

Posted by dawso | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on September 14, 2011

Well, as you all know, I held a poetry competiotion. The winner of that was Teegan. If you want to read her poem than here is the Link. As Teegans reward, she got to write a post for my blog. Here is Teegan’s post. It is veryconvincing and thanks for doing such a great post.

Say No to Animal Testing

Worldwide, over 200 million animals suffer each year so we can wear lipstick, clean our oven, polish our furniture, wash ourselves, etc. Do you think this is fair? I certainly don’t, and I think most experiments on innocent animals should be stopped.

First, there are humane alternatives to animal testing they are cheaper, faster and have proven to be more accurate. One of the best alternatives to animal testing is cell and tissue culture or In-Vitro testing, this is when samples of human cells or tissues are used to test substances in a certain cell or tissue. This method is low cost and better because the information from it is relating to humans. Some other alternatives are:

  • Epidemiological studies- Also known as population studies. This looks at the link between someone’s life style and a disease.
  • Computer Models- Can be used to help scientists look at disease and find a cure

So why do we need to continue killing poor animals when we can use one of these methods instead?

Second, it cost lots, between twelve and sixteen billion dollars annually in the US alone, is spent on animal testing when the alternatives are a fraction of the cost. For example, 1.9 million dollars was used to fund heart attack experiments on dogs, 5 million dollars to fund obesity experiments on monkeys and 16 million dollars on drug addiction experiments on monkeys. Imagine the worldwide cost if experiments like these were funded all over the world! It would probably get to Trillions of dollars!

Last, It’s just plain cruel, check out this link to a google image search on photos of animal testing to see what I mean. Most of the animal methods of testing resolves in putting the animal in a lot of pain or even killing it. For example in the Draize Eye Test, animals like rabbits get put in full body restraints while different things get dripped and smeared into their eyes or, onto their shaven skin. Scientist then record what is happening at different times after it has been applied. Rabbits may suffer, swollen eyelids, irritated and cloudy eyes, and inflamed skin, and in the case of irreversible  damage, they may endure ulcers, bleeding, bloody scabs, or blindness.  How would you like that to happen to you? Click here to see some more methods of  animal testing.

These are my reasons why I think Animal testing should stop. What do you think ?  Are you for it or against it?
