Sunny Side Up!

Posted by dawso | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on December 14, 2011

Hi Everyone,

Well I have recently finished reading the book ‘Sunny Side Up’, by marion Roberts. My friend Hannah recommended it to me! She has given me amazing advice! I recommend it to everyone that likes to read books about girls in a muddle!

Here is the blurb…

Start with one quiet, perfect life.

Add:

1 step-dad,

2 pre-cooked siblings,

1 best friend,

1 sworn enemy

and a long lost grandmother.

Flavour:

With a dash of secrets, a pinch of jealousy and a good dollop of growing-up. Cook on high all summer long.
Fresh and spicy and as irresistible as Friday night pizza, Sunny Side Up is a story about surviving a heatwave, running a business, avoiding headlice, loving your dog, keeping secrets, saying goodbye and hello, and finding out what really matters.

Sunny side up is a fantastic book! Here is my book review…

Sunny Side Up by Marion Roberts is a book all about Sunny. It is summer holidays and she has many problems.

Problem 1) For Christmas Sunny gets a Christmas present from her long lost Granny. On the card it asks Sunny to give her a call. Her mother makes Sunny promise not to as her mother and her granny had a falling out and have not since been talking. But Sunny’s mother doesn’t know that Sunny had her fingers crossed. When she is at her dad’s place latter on, she gives her a call. Her Granny wants to meet Sunny and so they do! Sunny has to keep it a secret from her mum!

Problem 2) Her best friend Claud has just come back from Queensland and has turned weird. She suddenly likes boys! She even lied to Sunny about going and seeing a boy. Sunny and Claud have a big falling out and have to piece things back together for there Friday night pizza business Pizza-A-Go-Girl.

Problem 3) Sunny’s mum is dating a new guy called Carl, who has 2 pre-cooked children that are really annoying! Carl and Sunny’s mum decide that it is time for the 2 family’s to join together!

Problem 4) There is a mean bully at school who is becoming a closer friend and causing HEAPS of problems! Problem 5) Sunny knows heaps of secrets and has to keep all of them!

I would recommend this book for anybody aged 11-13. It is a fantastic book and I would rate it 9/10.

Finish Off The Story!

Hey Everyone!

Finish off this story, if you want!

What I Want…

“I want it and I want it right now. If Sally got the new PlayStation, I should have it to!” I screamed and shouted. I stomped and spat. This tantrum came to about 3 on the tantrum scale. It goes from 1-10, 10 being the worst. I wanted it and I needed to get it. My name is Lisa and I get what I want. If I don’t get it, I yell, I shout, I kick, I scream, I spit, I cry, I do whatever it takes. I am 10 and I have never, ever in my whole entire life not got what I wanted. If I want it, it is mine!

“But my beautiful princess.  You already have the last 2 PlayStation’s, 3 X-boxes and a Wii. Why would you want another PlayStation?” Mum was already worrying that I might not use it. Of course I wouldn’t! “Sally has, that’s why. Why else would I want it, to play games on it?” I just laughed. I can’t believe that I had thought about actually using it! I only use the best quality, one of a kind, hand crafted toys.  “But sweetie, you have so many toys, why would you want anymore? You don’t need anymore. Just trust us darling.” Mum said this anxiously. I started to think that something was going on. No, it couldn’t be. Of course it wouldn’t.

“Mother, I want the new PlayStation. That is the end of this conversation and I will see you at dinner, and I expect to see a brand new PlayStation.” That was the end of the conversation. I felt good. I had won! I now had the new PlayStation and could rub it in Sally’s face! I had won the fight!

That night at dinner, I got my brand new PlayStation. Mum and Dad tried to make it better, but definitely failed. They put three diamonds in it! Only three. It was a bit disappointing really. I mean come on. THREE! I was shocked. To top it all of mum only hired the chef that could cook 4 star dishes. I was horrified. How dare she try and feed my food that ordinary people would eat. The chef cooked food that was, well, average. It wasn’t the best food that I had ever had in my life, it was well probably down the bottom of my list. After dinner, I did something that horrified, pleased and shocked everyone at the dinner table. I said… Thank-you. It was amazing. It just slipped out.

I took the elevator with golden buttons up to my room. It went up and up and up, until it finally reached the ninth floor. This held the most important level of the house… My Bedroom. I did notice that the brass door had been polished, and the jewels had been changed into some brighter ones. I walked in and got changed into my designer silk pyjamas. I walked on my freshly dry cleaned, fluffy, soft and smooth carpet. I then walked into my onsite and cleaned my teeth. The bristles on my gold encrusted toothbrush were starting to wear out. I used it, with the best quality toothpaste I could find. I then through my toothbrush into my freshly scrubbed bin.  I then walked over to my triple-king-sized bed. I lay down into my extra soft sheets. I gently put my head onto the dove-feather pillow. It felt strange tonight. I picked up the remote and clicked the button, which automatically closed the curtains. I turned on the massage feature of my bed, and then turned on the beach sounds. I than closed my eyes and relaxed, and slept.

Beep, beep, beep. Was the noise coming from my brand new, crystal alarm clock. I turned it off, and then got up. I then found that my maid hadn’t turned up. I knew that this one would be a slack one. I walked over to my big, shiny, wooden cupboard and picked out my uniform. I got changed quickly and then got in the elevator and travelled down all 9 floors. I greeted mum and dad. I sat down whilst Marcus, my waiter brought me my food. I started to eat. It was actually decent. I had a poached egg, on freshly made bread, a piece of the best bacon available, sautéed mushrooms, a spiced and grilled tomato and a freshly made hot chocolate. It was quite tasty.

I walked away and got in the limo that drove me to school. I got out of the limo and walked into school. I walked over to Sally and all of her geeky friends to tell her my news. “Hey Lisa, your hair looks nice today.” “Thanks. I got the new PlayStation, and guess what? It has three diamonds in it. I do realise that three diamonds isn’t very many, but at least they put in some form of effort. How many diamonds does yours have?” I asked her. Some people could say that what I just did was mean, but I don’t think so. “Um, well, my mum and dad can’t afford to do that. I thought that they were really kind getting me one.” When Sally said that she sounded really sad. Perfect, my goal had been achieved.

When the limo didn’t show up on time, I started to feel a little bit worried. Something suspicious was going on at home.  I thought  and thought. This idea suddenly buzzed into my head and BAM I had the idea.  They were throwing a surprise party for me. No, no that is to, um, what’s the word, oh got it, boring. They were going to buy me a 24 Carat gold swimming pool. No, no, they have already done that. Oh I got it, they are going to move to a bigger, better home. No, no we do that every year, we moved only a few months ago. I just couldn’t put my finger on it. I couldn’t figure it out. What was wrong with mum and dad. Could I be feeling worried. No, I am Lisa and I get what I want.

But what Lisa didn’t know, was that she might not get what she wants.

Commenting Guidelines

Posted by dawso | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on December 13, 2011

I have just written a new page, which you can access at any time. It is at the very top of my blog! Here it is…

Hi Everyone!

Here are some rules for you and your friends to follow when leaving a comment. Firstly…

MAKE SURE IT IS A QUALITY COMMENT…

What is the point of leaving a comment that says ‘Visit my blog’? There is none. When leaving a comment try to remember to make it detailed. Remember to have 3-4 sentences. Say nice things about there blog and ask questions. If you ask questions, they should respond to you. If you have a link, be sure to leave it. But don’t just write the comment so that it is ‘Visit my blog’. Write your comment like a letter for example

Hi _______

WRITE COMMENT HERE! MAKE SURE IT IS 3-4 SENTENCES LONG. DON’T USE TEXT TALK. RE-READ AFTERWARDS TO CHECK PUNCTUATION AND SPELLING.

FROM __________

BLOG URL

DON’T USE TEXT TALK…

Text talk is when you say something like this,

hru? I am gr8.

When blogging you should always use proper words. Some people may not understand it. Try to write in full sentences and use punctuation. Remember your capital letters, full stops etc.

DON’T GIVE AWAY INFORMATION…

Do not give away private or personal information. Never give away your address. If someone asks you where you come from, you can say your country or state but never your address. Do not use your full name. Only use your first name or a nickname. There is no need for this. If anyone ever asks you things like this you should tell an adult.

IF YOU GET A COMMENT, COMMENT BACK…

The polite thing to do, when given a comment is… COMMENT BACK! If they have left a URL to there blog, than visit it and leave them a comment. If someone has taken up time to read posts on your blog, and leave a comment, than the polite thing to do is comment back. If there is no URL than you can just reply.

BE RESPECTFUL…

When commenting there is no need to be rude. Be respectful to everybody. Do not be mean or rude. If someone is mean or rude to you, than tell an adult. Do not say inappropriate things. I will not publish a comment that is disobeying my rules. So I suggest you follow them :)

MAKE SURE THAT IT MAKES SENSE…

Make sure that you are posting something that is relevant and makes sense. If the post is about Christmas, don’t write a comment regarding Halloween. If it is relevant than you can say it, but make sure that you are posting things that are worth reading and writing about. Make sure that your wording is making sense. Make sure other people can understand it. Don’t be silly, use common sense.

MAKE SURE THAT NOBODY ELSE HAS WRITTEN THAT…

Make sure that nobody else has already written that.

1. It will seem like you have copied and…

2. there is no point!

RE-READ BEFORE YOU POST…

Re-Read your comments before you post it. If you don’t there may be many mistakes. If you re-read your comment you can change things that don’t sound right!

REMEMBER…

1) I have to approve all comments before you can see them. If you do not follow these rules your comment will not be approved.

2) A comment on someones blog is a digital footprint. It will always be there. Anyone can see it, so be wise!!!

Have fun leaving comments!

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever

2

Posted by dawso | Posted in Books | Posted on December 3, 2011

Hi Everyone!

I just finished reading the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, Cabin Fever, By Jeff Kinney. Jeff is a fantastic author! Diary of a Wimpy Kid is one of my favourite series. There are 6 books. I have read all of them and just finished reading the sixth. Here is my book review,

Cabin Fever, by Jeff Kinney is a fantastic book! It is about a boy called Greg Heffeley. Gregg is getting ready for Christmas, but there is one problem… There has been a blizzard! They are stuck inside for the lead up to Christmas, and to make it worse, there dad is in a hotel because he couldn’t drive home! It is terrible!

There are so many problems along the way, and with almost no food, will they survive??? Gregg tells stories from the past and tells stories now. This book is for anyone who loves to read Diary like books! It is a fantastic book and I would recommend it to anyone! I think that it is suitable for ages 8-14. It is fantastic book and I would rate it 10/10.
