Hi Everybody!

Well yesterday my class got to participate in a basketball clinic with the Sydney Kings!!! I was really upset because I wasn’t allowed to do it. I have hurt my neck and couldn’t participate but it still looked like great fun. They met two of the players. We had a chat and then did some drills!

They worked on layups and dribbling. It looked really fun! Along with the day, we got a ticket to the game on Saturday. It is the Kings verse the Hawks! I hope that Sydney will win but Wollongong is my second favourite team so…

Do you like basketball? I certainly do! I would do it at school this term although I am doing Debating instead. I wonder which one I will like better! What do you like better, debating or basketball? I have tried both of them out and I really love both! It is a tough decision!

I hope you have an awesome weekend :)

International Woman’s Day

Hi

Well, yesterday was International Woman’s Day. We have so many important woman in our world, that without them, who know what would happen. International Woman’s Day was on the 8th of March. Where we celebrate ladies of the world. There are so many amazing woman out there to celebrate. Some of the amazing woman that come to my mind first, would be…

Julia Gillard: She is currently Australia first Prime Minister. Although there is a lot of conflict between whether she is doing a good job or not, it is still an incredible achievement.

Jessica Watson: Jessica Watson was the youngest kid to sail around the world. At the age of 17 she took off and started her journey. She did it all by herself and that is amazing!

J.K. Rowling: J.K. Rowling is the amazing author of Harry Potter, much loved books! J.K. Rowling is an amazingly talented writer and is a great role model.

But there is another side to this story. There are also a lot of woman living in poverty. Millions of women and girls walk over six kilometres a day in search of food, water and firewood. This leaves little time for school, accessing health services and earning an income.

I’m walking 10,000 steps per day from Monday 12 March to Sunday 18 March 2012 as part of CARE’s Walk In Her Shoes challenge. I do have a web page and I may be able to put up a link soon!

Have a great day :D
